biography

Kaye hails from Salt Lake City and a family well known for singing through many generations. She is also a founding member of the Albuquerque-based women’s Balkan chorus (Svirka), and has sung with the women’s vocal group Earth Angels. Kaye currently works at the Anderson School of Management at UNM and is also involved in the National Spiritual Progressive (NSP) movement in New Mexico.

Ric Dorin has played fingerstyle guitar since boyhood and grew up in Redwood City, California, with a natural inclination to folk and blues guitar. In addition to steel string guitar, Ric plays electric and classical guitar. Ric works as an endocrinologist at the VA hospital in Albuquerque and is a professor of medicine and biochemistry at UNM's School of Medicine.

Other frequent players with the band include Jon Myers (electric bass), Mark Smith (acoustic and electric bass), Jared Putnam (acoustic bass), Chris Carpenter (drums), Bill Martinez (drums), Dave Devlin (mandolin, dobro, and lap steel), and Chris Carlson (fiddle).

Los Radiators duo features Kaye Summerhays on vocals and hand percussion and Ric Dorin on vocals and fingerstyle guitar. Los Radiators have been making acoustically flavored music in central and northern New Mexico for about a decade. We often play with other musical friends and collaborators to provide a bigger sound suitable for dancing. Instrumentation for the country dance band includes acoustic or electric bass, drums or percussion, and occasionally dobro/mandolin/lap steel or fiddle. Los Radiators enjoy a wide variety of musical styles, including folk, country, blues, jazz, popular, Motown, Spanish, and gypsy. Dance music includes two-step, waltz, swing, polka, cha-cha, and related.
